Self Assessment PA Career Education and Work Standards Curriculum Resources

PA Career Education and Work Standards Curriculum Resources

If you are looking for free PA aligned lesson plans that can be easily integrated into classroom curricula or “ready-made” activities that are relatively easy to deliver, this is a one-stop shop, the PA Career Standards Toolkit. Specifically for self-assessment, pay particular attention to the activities for standard 13.1: Career Awareness and Preparation.

Visiting the PA Career Standards Toolkit’s Curriculum Resources will provide you with specific activities and printable lesson plans that relate directly the PA Academic Standards for Career Education and Work in both grades 8 and 11. You may browse them all by clicking the link under “Curriculum Search,” or you may click any of the links along the right side to see specific grades. Many lesson plans not only address specific Career Education and Work Standards, they align to other Pennsylvania Academic standards.

The following pages contain an 8th grade (“Where in the World Are You Headed?”) and 11th grade (“Considering Career Options”) Gold Medal lesson planning guide emphasizing strand 13.1. These lessons are intended for large group instruction.

Again, these materials are free and reflect best practices in Pennsylvania.

Additionally, free curriculum resources to support career development and the PA Career Education and Work Standards can be found on Pennsylvania’s Standard Align System (SAS). These materials and resources, especially the ones that can be found under the advanced search for Career Education and Work by clicking the checkbox for the content type  “PA Educator Created Content”, have met rigorous standards for instructional strategies and curriculum design.  Again, these materials and resources are free and reflect best practices in Pennsylvania.
